Impairment Rating Evaluations

An Impairment Rating Evaluation or IRE is a specialized examination and report, ideally performed by a medical physician with special training and experience. The evaluator uses a standardized method to determine permanent impairment associated with a physical or mental impairment.

The evaluator  is a medical professional who uses consensus-derived percentage estimates of loss of activity in order to derive a rating. He/she will use standards such as state based rating systems or international standards such as the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment to determine the permanent impairment.

No physician-patient relationship exists as a result of the evaluation.
